On May 6th-9th, Complete Coach Works unveiled the new 100% electric driven Remanufactured Transit Bus at the 26th Annual Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS26).
The EVS is recognized as the global electric transportation industry’s largest forum, showcasing all forms of technologies in the market place. There were over 5,000 attendees from 47 countries, and over 200 exhibitors.
This Zero-Emission Propulsion System, dubbed the ZEPS Drive, has marked yet another historical first for Complete Coach Works. Not only has this product become a milestone in our remanufacturing capabilities, but we were able to transform this previously diesel transit bus into an electric transit bus within a remarkable 10 days, and just in time for the expo.
Only a week after debuting at the EVS26 in Los Angeles, the ZEPS Bus was shown at another industry expo called Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Long Beach, California. ACT Expo is North America’s premiere alternative fuels and clean vehicles conference and expo representing all alternative fuel types. While much of the expo floor was made up of CNG and LNG product lines, the ZEPS Drive’s presence ended up gaining the majority of the attention, and impressed both fleets and vendors with what we accomplished in such a short amount of time.
In addition to creating an innovative and economical solution to zero-emissions in the Public Transportation Industry, Complete Coach Works has gone above and beyond any enviromentally sustainable approach others have taken in the past by recycling a previously used transit bus into nearly new condition.
Transit properties struggling with ever tightening budgets can maximize their purchasing power by turning to a remanufactured Zero Emission bus, which also helps minimize their carbon footprint. The ultimate in sustainability the remanufactured Zero Emission bus eliminates tail pipe emissions, reduces landfill waste by recycling a bus that had been targeted for disposal, and stretches their scarce financial resources for use in other environmentally beneficial projects.
With an expected range of 120 to 150 miles, the bus has generated a great deal of positive response and several prominent transit authorities have already signed up for a demonstration period with the bus to determine first hand if the range and performance of the bus will work within their route structures.

RIVERSIDE, CA – As work progresses on the 57 bus rehab we have been working on for AMA, the Puerto Rico bus system, it is with great pride that we accepted a new contract for work on ten RTS buses. The work will include a complete rebuild of the cradle including a remanufactured Series-50 engine, a rebuilt transmission, new radiator and CAC system and all new accessories and hoses. The buses will also get all needed body work done before receiving a new paint job and decals reflecting AMA’s latest colors and graphic design.
We are proud and excited about this new contract and the opportunity to continue to participate in AMA’s process of upgrading the quality and appearance of their bus fleet.
Like the current 57 bus rehab, the RTS bus project will remain on the island of Puerto Rico without incurring expensive shipping charges and an additional delay time of 20 days per bus, the potential for shipping damage is eliminated and AMA is spared the expense of sending inspectors on costly site inspection trips.
Complete Coach Works will also continue to use the local workforce to benefit the economy on the island, which has struggled, like so many others, from high unemployment and budget cuts.
The Metropolitan Bus Authority (AMA) operates 37 routes, which serves municipalities of San Juan, Carolina, Bayamon, Trujillo Alto, Guaynabo, Toa Baja (Levittown Area), Catano and Loiza. Each weekday the AMA reaches over 41,000 transit users in various metro areas on the island, and has an active fleet of 217 buses with air conditioning which provides comfortable and safe transportation to passengers.
Complete Coach Works offers a vast array of solutions for your transportation needs, and for over 25 years we have provided peace of mind to thousands of customers by being their one stop shop. Whether your need is for collision repair, a complete interior rehab, or converting your fleet to alternative fuel or hybrid propulsion systems we have the necessary experience to make each job a success.

Riverside, CA – Complete Coach Works announced today that they have been awarded a 57 bus rehab by the Metropolitan Bus Authority (AMA) of Puerto Rico. This mid-life bus rehab includes a complete repower of the propulsion system which will give these buses a renewed life and will continually provide reliable transportation to the residents of Puerto Rico.
